🚚 Vehicles (fleet tracking)

The Vehicles page shows your delivery vans on a live map, powered by Yipii GPS trackers. Each vehicle appears as a pin with its speed and how long ago it last reported; the list beside the map lets you click a van to centre the map on it. Positions refresh on their own every 30 seconds.

Connecting it

1. In the Yipii dashboard open API Access → Create API Key and copy the key — a long token that starts with eyJ… (it's shown only once). Note your Account Key too (it's in the dashboard URL: iot.yipii.io/a/{accountKey}/…).
2. An administrator opens Settings → Fleet tracking, pastes the Account Key and the API Key, then clicks Save and Test connection.
3. Once it says connected, open Vehicles for the map — or Settings → Vehicle settings to rename a van.

Delivery vehicles — which vans everyone sees

Your Yipii account may track *every* company vehicle — including cars and vans that never touch linen. So each vehicle has a Delivery vehicle tick: it marks the vans that actually move your linen, and it decides who sees which vehicles.

1. An administrator opens Settings → Vehicle settings and ticks 📦 Delivery vehicle on each van that carries linen. The tick saves on its own — there is no separate Save button.
2. That is all. The map does the rest automatically based on who is looking.

• Administrators and power users see every vehicle. The delivery vans are marked with a 📦 Delivery badge so you can tell them apart at a glance.
• Everyone else — housekeepers, drivers, ordinary staff — sees only the delivery vehicles. The cars and non-linen vans simply do not appear for them.
• The Housekeeping app opens the map as a Delivery vans view: it always shows the delivery vehicles only, even for an administrator, because that is all a housekeeper needs.

Total kilometres driven (per vehicle)

Each van on Settings → Vehicle settings shows a Lifetime figure — the total distance it has driven. A reading is always shown because it uses whichever source is available: if the tracker reports the vehicle's own odometer, that is used (labelled *odometer*); otherwise the app falls back to the sum of every trip the tracker has recorded since it was fitted (labelled *tracked*). Both are kept at all times — the trip-distance total keeps accumulating even when an odometer is present — so if one source ever stops, the other still has the history.

How the tracked total is worked out: once a day the app adds up that vehicle's completed trips for each finished day and adds them to a running total (today's distance is shown on top of it, live). Each day is banked once and only once, so the figure never double-counts. You can optionally enter the van's real odometer at install on its card — that number is added to the tracked distance to estimate the true total on the clock.
