🗺️ Route (the day’s driving loop)
The shortest driving loop for the day’s turnovers, on a map.
The Route page plans the shortest driving loop for a day’s check-outs, starting (and optionally ending) at the Warehouse. It draws the ordered stops on a map with the total distance, and gives a one-tap Open in Google Maps link with every stop as a waypoint for turn-by-turn navigation on real roads.
Using it
- Pick a day (the next 7 are offered, each showing that day’s check-out count).
- The map shows the ordered stops — gold pins are the check-out apartments, green pins are the laundries, and a blue van pin is each vehicle’s live position (when GPS is available).
- Toggle round trip to return to the Warehouse, and tap Open in Google Maps to drive it.
Each stop can show the two bags for that turnover — the clean bag to drop off and the dirty bag to pick up — with the weight (kg) of each bag, and a driver can tap Approve drop-off / Approve pickup to tick the stop off (this only records the physical hand-over; it moves no stock). A stop with map coordinates has a clickable name that opens Google Maps.
The summary tiles at the top also show the total weight to carry for the day — one figure for the clean drop-off load and one for the dirty pickup load — so the driver knows how heavy the run is before setting off.
Real road distances, arrival times & the per-group start
When an administrator has set a routing key (Settings → Routing API), the loop uses real road distances and the road-optimal order, shows the drive time, a per-stop arrival time (ETA) and a "done by" time, and draws the actual road line on the map. Without a key it falls back to a straight-line estimate. Either way the stop order handed to Google Maps matches the plan on the page.
Two drop-offs at the same building (two apartments in one block, or the same address geocoded twice) are treated as one stop for the driving — visited, measured and navigated once — while both bags still appear on the list to tick off. Arrival times count from a departure time you can change at the top of the Route page.
Each property group can drive from its own base: if a group has warehouse coordinates set, that group’s route starts (and, on a round trip, ends) there instead of the main Warehouse. Choose the group in the Group dropdown to see its route; groups with no coordinates of their own use the main Warehouse. You can also assign a delivery van to a group (Settings → Vehicles — mark a vehicle as a delivery vehicle, then pick its group), and the group’s route then shows which van drives it.
Availability windows & live arrival times
The route is ordered around when each property is free to service: every stop shows its check-out (free from) and next check-in times (each property’s own, or the default from Settings → Routing API), and the plan never has the van arrive before a property is free — it waits if it is early. A stop whose estimated arrival falls after the next check-in is flagged ⚠ after check-in, so you can spot a turnover that will be tight.
As you drive, tap Approve drop-off / Approve pickup at each stop. Each tick re-times the rest of the run from that moment — the ticked stop shows the actual time (✓), and the remaining stops get a fresh, live arrival estimate (🕒 · live) rolled forward from where you are now (still waiting for any property that is not yet free). Every approval recalculates all the following stops, so the arrival times stay honest as the day runs ahead of or behind plan.
