📈 Turnover Forecast

The linen workload projected from the bookings already on the books — how much to wash, what it will cost, the expected losses, and when to re-order.

The Turnover Forecast (shown as Linen Forecast in the menu) looks at the check-outs already booked and projects the linen workload ahead — over the next 7, 14, 30, 60 or 90 days. For every upcoming check-out it adds that property’s standing In & Out linen set (the linen changed at each turnover). It is entirely read-only: it books nothing and changes no stock.

What it shows

  • Pieces to wash — how many pieces the booked turnovers will send to the laundry in the window.
  • Estimated wash cost — those pieces priced at each item’s wash price (from the Pricing page).
  • Estimated linen lost — how many pieces you can expect to lose in the window (how this is worked out is below), and their replacement value.
  • Projected stock vs par target — your current total stock minus the expected losses; a row turns red when it is projected to fall below its par target, so you can re-order in time.

How the estimated linen loss is calculated

Every linen item gets its own loss rate, worked out from its recent history, and that rate is applied to how many of that item the forecast will wash. The rate is:

Loss rate = pieces lost or damaged ÷ pieces sent to the laundry — over the last 30 days.

  1. Take one linen item and look back over the last 30 days.
  2. Count how many pieces of it were sent to the laundry in those 30 days (everything dispatched to be washed).
  3. Count how many of those came back missing or damaged — a loss — in the same 30 days.
  4. Divide the losses by the pieces sent → that item’s loss rate (never more than 100%).
  5. Multiply the rate by the pieces the forecast will wash for that item in the window → the estimated loss.
Note Worked example. Over the last 30 days 1,000 towels were sent to the laundry, and 300 came back missing or damaged (say 200 lost + 100 damaged). That is a 30% loss rate. If the next 30 days of booked turnovers will wash 700 towels, the estimated loss is 30% × 700 = 210 towels. Every item is worked out on its own history the same way.
Note What counts as a loss here. Only pieces recorded missing or damaged in the wash cycle — a shortfall at the dirty count or the laundry count, pieces lost in transit, and pieces sorted out as damaged on the clean return. One-off bulk write-offs and stock-count adjustments are deliberately left out, so a single large correction can’t distort the rate. The “pieces sent” it is measured against is everything dispatched to the laundry — the normal Dirty Queue and the Hardwash Queue — which matches the losses being counted.
Note The 30-day window is fixed. The loss rate always reads the raw last 30 days, whichever forecast length (7–90 days) you choose, and it is not cleared by a “Reset statistics / shrinkage”. If an item has no wash history in the last 30 days, its loss estimate stays at 0 until there is a trailing record.
Tip The forecast only sees reservations already booked, so windows further out read low — treat every figure as a floor that fills in as more bookings arrive.
