✅ Laundry Counts (the laundry’s page)

Where each laundry confirms what it received and records the clean linen it sends back.

The Laundry Counts page is the laundry’s side of the hand-off — the steps the cleaning company does. It has the same one tab per laundry as Linen Matching, and cross-links back to it. (The laundry can open just this page, menu-free, from its own Laundry app — see the Phone apps section.)

Step 3 — confirm or dispute the count

  1. Open Laundry Counts and pick the laundry’s tab. Under Awaiting the laundry’s count are the dirty bags that were sent — their pieces are already counted in At Laundries.
  2. The laundry re-counts what it actually received. If it matches, click ✓ Confirm count.
  3. If it does not match, edit the numbers to what was really received, add a short note, and click Dispute.

What “Confirm” does — even when the count differs

Because the bag’s pieces were added to At Laundries the moment it was sent, clicking ✓ Confirm count simply reconciles At Laundries to the number the laundry actually counted — only the *difference* is applied:

  • Same as sent — nothing moves; the bag is just marked confirmed.
  • Fewer than sent (say 48 confirmed of 50) — the 2 missing pieces are removed from At Laundries *and* booked as a loss (missing), so the shortfall shows up in your Shrinkage figures and loss reports. Nothing is ever silently absorbed. (The removal is capped so At Laundries can never go below zero.)
  • More than sent (say 52 confirmed of 50) — At Laundries is raised by the 2, and the extra is booked as a recovery that nets off your Shrinkage (the mirror image of a shortfall). Those pieces are now tracked at that laundry and come back with the clean return.
Note This reconciliation moves the At Laundries figure to match the count — it never touches On Shelf or In Vault. A shortfall (fewer received than were sent) is booked as a loss (missing) and appears in Shrinkage. Losses are captured the same way in two other places: damaged or missing pieces when you count the dirty bag on the Dirty Queue, and anything a laundry sends back short of what it was holding (lost in transit) when you receive the clean return on Linen Matching.

What “Dispute” does

If the count does not match, edit the rows to what was really received, add a short note, and click Dispute. A dispute is a flag only — it saves your note and the proposed count and marks the bag “Disputed — re-count & confirm”, but moves no stock at all: the pieces stay in At Laundries exactly as they were. Nothing is reconciled until someone clicks ✓ Confirm count, which then applies the difference as described above. (On the card, Dispute is the safe default action, and ✓ Confirm count is the explicit green button.)

Step 4 — send clean linen back

  1. There are two send-back cards, split automatically by how the linen was sent: Send clean linen back — normal wash lists what this laundry received from the Dirty Queue (normal wash), and 🔥 Send clean linen back — hard washed lists what it received from the Hardwash Queue — each pre-filled with the full amount out. Linen only appears here after you Confirm its count in Step 3 — you can’t send it back before it has been washed and counted; and a card only shows if there is confirmed linen of that wash type.
  2. Adjust anything held back or short (you can use Send all back or Clear all on either card), then click Record clean return on the normal card — or 🔥 Record hard-wash return on the hard card.
  3. Either one immediately reduces At Laundries for this laundry and marks the pieces Coming back / in transit. The property then receives them onto the shelf on Linen Matching (step 5).
Watch out Each card has its own Available at laundry pool (normal vs hard), and each counts down independently as you record returns — so the same linen can’t be sent back twice, and a hard-wash piece can only be returned on the hard card. A hard-wash return arrives on Linen Matching with a prominent 🔥 HARD WASH label on the “Clean linen coming back” card, so the property knows those pieces came back from a hard wash.
