Some linen needs more than an ordinary wash — a stained sheet, or a towel that came back from the laundry still not clean. The Hardwash Queue is where those pieces go for a second, heavier wash (a re-wash), billed at the higher hard-wash price. It works just like the Dirty Queue, but for hard washes only.
Normal wash vs. hard wash
- Normal wash — the everyday wash for linen coming back from a turnover. It is billed at each item’s Normal price and flows through the Dirty Queue.
- Hard wash (re-wash) — a heavier wash for stained or still-dirty pieces. It is billed at each item’s Hard price (set per item, per laundry, on the Pricing page) and flows through the Hardwash Queue. The hard price is never lower than the normal price.
Workflow 1 — the normal wash
- On the Dirty Queue, count the dirty linen from each check-out and send it to the laundry (normal price).
- The laundry re-counts what it received on Laundry Counts and confirms it.
- When the clean linen comes back, receive it onto the shelf on Linen Matching. If every piece is clean, the round-trip is finished.
Workflow 2 — the hard wash (re-wash)
- When clean linen comes back but some pieces are still dirty / stained, mark those pieces Still Dirty on Linen Matching instead of receiving them onto the shelf.
- Those pieces move to the Hardwash Queue (not the normal Dirty Queue), flagged 🔥.
- Count them there and send them for a hard wash — they go back to the laundry billed at the hard-wash price.
- When they return they are labelled 🔥 HARD WASH on Laundry Counts so everyone can see they were re-washed; receive them onto the shelf on Linen Matching as usual.
You can also start a hard wash directly: use Count a bag by hand on the Hardwash Queue for a bag you already know needs the heavier treatment — pick a property or type a location, add the items, and Confirm.
Note Because the two washes are priced differently, the returning clean linen is split into two send-back lists on Laundry Counts — one for normal-washed pieces and one for hard-washed pieces — so each is priced correctly and clearly labelled.
Note With property groups, the Hardwash Queue is per group too. Each group tab shows only its own still-dirty re-wash pieces, and sending re-washes only that group’s bags — exactly like the Dirty Queue. Switch tabs to work another group; the read-only Total has no send.
Tip Set the Hard price for each item next to its Normal price on the Pricing page. Leave the Hard price blank and it falls back to that item’s normal price.
