πŸ“– Words explained

A quick plain-English glossary of the terms used here.

A few words show up across the app. Here is what each one means in plain terms.

  • Linen sheet β€” a list of the linen you are sending to the laundry from one apartment on one day.
  • Collection β€” a submitted linen sheet, once it is on its way to and from the laundry.
  • Pending β€” submitted but not yet approved.
  • Approved / Disputed β€” the counts were agreed (approved) or didn’t match and need sorting (disputed).
  • Variance β€” the difference between what you sent and what came back.
  • Par / Target β€” the amount of linen you aim to have, so you never run out during a turnover.
  • Multiplier β€” how many full sets you keep per item (one on the bed, one in the wash, one spare).
  • In Vault / On Shelf / At Properties / At Laundries β€” the places a piece of linen can be (At Laundries was once called *In Wash*).
  • Coming back / in transit β€” clean linen a laundry has sent back but which you have not yet received onto the shelf.
  • Linen Matching / Laundry Counts β€” your side of the laundry hand-off (receive clean back) and the laundry’s side (confirm the count, send clean back).
  • Clean Queue / Dirty Queue β€” pack clean linen out to apartments (Clean) and count dirty linen back from them (Dirty).
  • Shrinkage β€” linen lost or written off as damaged, as a share of what you bought.
  • Normal / Hard wash β€” a standard wash versus a heavier wash that costs more.
  • PMS β€” your booking system (the source of apartments and reservations).
